Duplicate collection
Administrators and managers can duplicate a collection's asset definitions and stored content into a new collection. External system data, credentials, and execution history are not duplicated.
Capture: The included and excluded content in the collection duplication dialog and the step-by-step progress panel at the bottom right. Exclude production collection names and user information.
Review what is duplicated
| Duplicated | Excluded |
|---|---|
| Code, dataset data, knowledge files, resource definitions, and internal references | Source data in external systems, secrets, passwords, API keys, and pipeline or agent execution history |
Reconnect and test assets that use external data connections or execution credentials after duplication. The presence of the duplicate does not mean that data in external systems was copied.
Duplicate a collection
- Select the source collection in Collection Explorer.
- Select Duplicate from the collection's Actions menu or detail page.
- Review the included and excluded content under Duplication scope.
- Enter the New collection name and, optionally, a New collection alias.
- Select Duplicate.
The new name must be unique. If the duplication action is disabled, confirm that you have administrator or manager access.
Monitor progress
After duplication starts, a progress panel appears at the bottom right. The panel remains available in the same browser session when you navigate to another page.
The panel shows these stages: inspect collection contents, create the new collection, duplicate items, reconnect references, duplicate stored content, and configure permissions. When multiple duplications are running, each target has its own panel.
- When duplication succeeds, select Open duplicate to open the new collection.
- When duplication fails, the error remains in the panel. If a duplicate appears in the list, inspect its assets and references before removing the incomplete duplicate.
- A completed panel closes automatically after a short delay. Close a failed panel manually.
Validate the duplicate
- Check the new collection's asset count and folder layout.
- Reconfigure data connections, secrets, and external sources.
- Check the assets referenced by pipelines, data synchronization jobs, agents, and knowledge.
- Validate execution and permissions with disposable inputs.
